Nurturing talent
Changing lives

Everyone is born with talent. But we don’t all get the same opportunities to achieve our potential.

Poverty affects the prospects of more than 3 million young people in Japan. They grow up lacking support and without the aspirations and skills to change their futures.

Through our Born to Be youth engagement programme, we are working to improve the lives of young people affected by poverty.

We work with charity partners and our employee volunteers to provide better educational opportunities and the employability skills to lead healthy and fulfilling lives.

Because every young person deserves the chance to become who they were born to be.

The size of the problem

17%

One in six young people aged under 17 in Japan live in poverty (Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, 2012 data).
